Need help deciding on a contract cell phone.?

I've always had a pre paid phone, so im a little hesitant to sign up for a contract. I'm looking for a phone that gets all the Unlimited stuff (talk, text, internet). I don't need a ton of apps or that other fancy stuff, but i want to be able to get online at any time and access most sites like I would on a computer. I really don't want to spend over $50 a month. Also, I live in Maryland, and sometimes travel to Virgina, so I want something that can get service all over that area.
